Motorola started in Chicago, Illinois as Galvin Manufacturing Company (at 847 West Harrison Street)[11] in 1928, with its first item being a battery pack eliminator. In those days the radio had not yet been developed for use in automobiles, but Bill Lear and Howard Gates of Zenith made a pair; Lear designed the circuit and layout, Entrance did the metal work and Lear assembled them. Bill Lear presented Paul Galvin with the prototype, and he at first dismissed this. Later the theory was taken on by Galvin and a 200 unit production manage was made. In 1930 Galvin Manufacturing Firm introduced the Motorola the airwaves, one of the first commercially successful car radios. Business founder Paul V. Galvin and entrepreneur Bill Lear created the brand Motorola. Galvin and Lear mulled over names pertaining to the product on the cross-country trip and came up with " Motorola" which was various " motor" and the after that popular suffix -ola combined with audio tools of the time (for example " Victrola" ). The product was such a success that Galvin changed the company to Motorola.[12][13]

The name " Motorola" was followed in 1930, and the term has been utilized as a trademark since the 1930s.[14]

Many of Motorola's products have been radio-related, starting with a battery eliminator for radios, through the initial walkie-talkie in the world in 1940, defense consumer electronics, cellular system equipment, and mobile phone making. In the same year, the company built it is research and development plan with Kemudian Noble, a pioneer in FM radio and semiconductor technologies joined the corporation as movie director of exploration.
