In the Oresteia there seems to be a carrying on cycle of revenge. Somebody is murdered and then a family member must destroy the killer, therefore becoming a murderer himself. A new chosen one is then selected to adopt revenge on that person who killed ahead of him as well as the cycle moves on and on. The furies as well play a part with this cycle of revenge. They will seek out individuals who kill their very own blood family and bother them and torture all of them for eternity. So basically they also consider revenge pertaining to the ones that have been completely murdered. Vengeance is a continuing theme over the play right up until Athena includes a hand in rendering it come to an end.
