Rhetorical Analysis of Alice Walker's " Am i not blue"

In the essay, " Am I Blue? ” by simply Alice Master, Walker examines the feelings that family pets have plus the similarities those emotions have to human feelings. In this way, Master is comparing her feelings, as a human being, to the emotions of a equine (Blue). Walker uses symbolism to portray this comparability. When talking about the horses, Walker uses phrasing that illuminates your characteristics of Blue. Walker claims that " Green was depressed. Blue was horribly depressed and bored”, which are thoughts that one want only a human to have. One of the arguments Walker makes over the piece is the fact man only associates feelings as in a position for human beings, because being a society, all of us consider to be able to feel emotions is restricted to humans. Furthermore, our contemporary society, or at least the society of the slavery period, believes that human thoughts are restricted to those that are white, basically those who are human in the eye of the major white man. Therefore , while Walker remarks, the Indians and the slaves are " 'like animals'”, so they may be not capable of having such feelings. Walker displays the changeover of Blue's emotions while paralleled to the transitions of human emotions through the locating of love and a partner.
